Story of the Day

The Capitals host the Boston Bruins tonight at Capital One Arena for their final home game of the regular season. Washington has earned three out of a possible four points against Boston this season and have held the Bruins to two goals in two games. The Capitals (38-31-11, 87 pts. in 80 GP) enter tonight’s contest as the Eastern Conference’s second Wild Card.

Thirteen of the 20 players that dressed for the Capitals on opening night are expected to be available for Washington’s penultimate game of the regular season. Some of Washington’s youngest players, including Vincent Iorio (2021 Draft, 2nd rd, 55th overall) and Hendrix Lapierre (2020 Draft, 1st rd, 22nd overall), who started the season in the AHL with the Hershey Bears after winning the Calder Cup in 2023, are expected to be in the lineup as the Capitals make their push for the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Eight of the 10 players age 26 or younger currently on the Capitals’ roster have set career highs in games played this season.
