Dylan Strome scored his third overtime goal of the season to give the Capitals a 4-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. Strome, who also scored a go-ahead goal in the third period, has factored on all four of Washington’s overtime goals this season (3g, 1a) and has scored 17 of his 25 goals in the third period or later. The Mississauga, Ontario native enters tonight’s game on a five-game point streak (3g-6a–9p).
Strome’s first goal on Tuesday was his 24th of the season, which established a new single-season career high (previously 2022-23: 23g). Strome, who set career highs in games played (81), goals (23), assists (42) and points (65) in his first season with the Capitals in 2022-23, is on pace for 29g-40a–69p this season. The 6’3”, 194-pound center ranks first on Washington in points (60) and game-winning goals (5), and second in goals (25) and assists (35). Strome recorded 12 assists through his first 47 games of the season but has tallied 23 assists in his last 24 games. Twenty-eight of Strome’s 35 assists this season (80%) are primaries.
Since joining the Capitals ahead of the 2022-23 season, Strome ranks first on the Capitals in games played (152) and assists (77) and second in goals (48) and points (125).
