The Capitals visit the New York Islanders tonight at UBS Arena for the third and final meeting between the teams this season. Nine days ago at UBS Arena, Alex Ovechkin scored his 895th career goal to pass Wayne Gretzky (894) for the most goals in NHL history in a 4-1 Islanders win. In their first meeting on Nov. 29 at Capital One Arena, the Capitals overcame a 4-2 third-period deficit and Jakob Chychrun scored in overtime to give Washington a 5-4 victory. The Capitals are 125-99-13-7 all-time versus New York and 6-3-1 in their last 10 games against the Islanders. In addition, Washington has a record of 4-3-0 at UBS Arena.

Despite being 3-6-1 since March 25, the Capitals have averaged more even strength offensive zone possession time (6:35) than the opposition (6:03) over their last 10 games. In addition, Washington has generated 15.5 high-danger chances per game in that stretch while allowing 13.1 high-danger chances against. On Sunday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Capitals held a 17-8 advantage in high-danger chances and had 49 more seconds of offensive zone possession time (per Sportlogiq).

The Capitals have also held the opposition to fewer than 30 shots in eight of their last 10 games. This season, the Capitals rank ninth in the NHL in shots against per game (27.0). Washington has a record of 33-16-3 when allowing fewer than 30 shots against this season.
